PLAY! Film Screening and Keynote Speakers: Chopra, Tober, more
April 5th (6-9pm)
The Center for Integral Education is sponsoring "PLAY - Creating Space for Imaginative Play in an Over-Scheduled Society!", a thought provoking event on the evening of Sat. April 5th. Anyone interested in the issues of child rearing, education, and the value of imagination will not want to miss it.
There will be a screening of the new PBS documentary "Where Do the Children Play?", which examines the social and technological trends that conspire to rob children of their birthright: time and opportunity for unstructured, spontaneous play, especially outdoors, in nature. In addition, the screening will be supplemented with several well-informed speakers on the subject: Mallika Chopra, author of “100 Questions From My Child” and daughter of Deepak Chopra; Jan Tober, author of the world-renowned "Indigo Children" series of books; Susie Walton, a San Diego Parent Educator of the Year and director of Indigo Village and Redirecting Children's Behavior center in San Diego; and Dr. Anthony DeMaria, director of the Cardiovascular Institute at UCSD and editor in chief of the Journal of the American College of Cardiology.
The event is a fundraiser for Integral Elementary School and Rainbow Kids Integral Preschool, to upgrade their play areas for the children. The event will include a Silent Auction and Raffle, and will be held in the Community Hall at 8660 Gilman Drive, La Jolla.
Childcare is available too, for $10 a child, 2 years old and up.
Tickets are $10 each, purchased at the door.
