Yoga
and ATB
The Hatha Yoga and the Awareness through the Body (ATB) programs
address the students' need for Self-Knowledge, and are two
of many unique components of our Integral Education curriculum.
In Yoga and ATB, children become aware of themselves and the various
parts of their personality: body, mind, heart, and soul. This is
done through the cultivation of what is known as the "witness
consciousness" which is that part of us that can observe and
understand the movements of all these parts of our being. In fact,
when speaking of the development of this self-awareness in his book,
The Power of Now, Eckhart Tolle said,
"The process that I have just described is profoundly
powerful yet simple. It could be taught to a child, and hopefully
one day it will be one of the first things children learn in school.
Once you have understood the basic principle of being present
as the watcher of what happens inside you – and you "understand"
it by experiencing it – you have at your disposal the most
potent transformational tool." (The Power of Now, p. 41)
Awareness through the Body has been developed at the international
township of Auroville, in South India, over many years. For more
